Tapas and Tunes...

Busy, busy, busy! That's me right now. It's often NOT me but it'd be a boring world if every week were the same. Right now, I'm waiting for my manuscript to be processed and made visible in online bookshops. That means a publication date is in the near future. I imagine you, like me, are on the edge of your seat. Straight backs, knees bent, and once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!

Writing News
I kinda just told you. My new book is so close to being preorderble I can barely breathe. But I am breathing, regardless, and will continue to do so until I can announce its arrival into the world. SOON.

Tracy Chapman, on stage, in the opening notes of playing Fast Car to the audience. She looks up towards the crowd, as she plays her guitar, and smiles to herself as she dings. Her face shows joy.

The Grammys happened last week. Did you see? No, me neither. I lost touch with what's hot and what's not, music wise, decades ago. But what's this now? Tracy Chapman sang Fast Car with Luke Combs and the entire internet fell in love with her again. Niiiice. It is SUCH a tune. Despite not watching the awards show, Tracy Chapman's performance was all over my socials. I've seen it over and over, and it made me relisten to her album from 1988 - called Tracy Chapman. Some songs are simply iconic. Fast Car had slipped from my mind, but it's back. And now if you don't mind, I'm going to listen to it all over again.

A metal bar counter is covered in food, wine, and cutlery. There are 3 dishes. A bowl of tempura chilies with romesco sauce, a bowl of toasted almonds covered in paprika and spice, and a bowl with 4 cheese and ham croquettes. There is a glass of white wine, and a carafe behind, and a napkin holder. The napkins say 'Ultracomida' on the front.
Tempura peppers, white wine,
 almonds, and croquettes.
Food and Drink
I regularly visit Aberystwyth, jewel of the Cambrian coast, and have done since being a kid whose caravan holidays took place in the vicinity. Back in 2011, when I was yet to visit Aber as an adult on my own, I read this article by Caitlin Moran. It made me realise I didn't have to wait until the annual family caravan holiday to experience all the charm Aberystwyth has to offer. I could go on my own! Since then I've visited a bunch of times. Alone, with my partner, and I even set my last book there. There's nothing nicer than having to imagine being in a place you love, for your actual job. (In related news, you can buy Assembling the Wingpeople, here.) Last week, like so many visits before, I found myself eating in Ultracomida. A light lunch of white wine and tapas. Get me. I first visited it in 2011, a month or so after it was referenced in Caitlin's article. It was a day trip from our caravan holiday. Last week, I got to sit in the wine bottle lined backroom of the Spanish deli, and wile away a leisurely afternoon before going back to my Airbnb round the corner. Tapas by the sea. It's the best thing ever.

Out and About
It's not all been mini breaks on the coast. I also got to attend my sister-in-law's baby shower close to home. My experience of baby showers is severely lacking, but it was marvellous fun. Here's to the newest baby Bond! I can't wait to meet you!

This Update's been a bit truncated. What with being away last week, waiting on a book preorder link, and dealing with the aftermath of eating the loveliest of tapas, it's been a hectic time. It all makes up the varied tapestry of living life. Or something. Yeah? Whevs. Meet you back here next week? Same time, same place? Yeah? Cool.

Have a lovely week, folks.
